Sankhya Yoga (The Yoga of Knowledge)
The Yoga of Transcendent Analytical Knowledge
mātrā-sparśās tu kaunteya śītoṣṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ āgamāpāyino 'nityās tāṁs titikṣasva bhārata
(Hindi Translation)
English Translation
O son of Kunti, the contact between the senses and their objects gives rise to fleeting feelings of heat and cold, pleasure and pain. They appear and disappear and are impermanent. Therefore, endure them with patience, O Bharata.
Understanding the Deeper Wisdom of Verse 2.14
Krishna explains the transient nature of worldly dualities (dvandva). Pleasure and pain are neural signals arising from sensory contact with an ever-changing external reality. Cultivating Titiksha (forbearance) stabilizes the witness consciousness (Sakshi Bhav).
Practical Life Application for Modern Living
Understand that both joy and hardship in life are seasonal waves. Neither good times nor bad times last forever; remain centered in your inner peace.
